Annabel is an award-winning writer, director and producer of documentary and drama-documentary programmes. 

​

As a director, she has been nominated for three BAFTAs (two as 'Best Director: Factual'); and three Grierson awards, and she has won a Golden Panda (Wildscreen) award. Her work has won numerous other awards, including, BAFTA: Best Photography. 

​​

She is expert in telling stories in many genres: from retrospective narratives and crime ('I Cut Off HIs Penis: The Truth Behind The Headlines) to the entirely constructed narratives of Science and History ('Why Are We Here?' and 'Is Nuclear Power Safe?').

What all of Annabel's varied work has in common is one thing: human warmth - and the humour that comes with that. â€‹â€‹Her work is emotionally engaging but also original and visually inventive.

Annabel began as a science journalist, writing for The Economist and Prospect magazine, among others. She is also a published author, having written a biography of the Victorian Engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, for Haus publishing.
